How you handle the time after a breakup will determine whether or not you are going to get your ex back. The problem is that most handle this time incorrectly. Things you should do will not put any further strain on the relationship. If you do not heed to that warning, your chances to get your ex back diminishes greatly.
Although you may feel very depressed and emotional, this is not what you want the world, especially your ex, to see of you. We're not saying go on as if the world is a party and you could not be happier, but maintain a normal level of happiness for you. Relationship experts all agree that somebody who looks confident and optimistic after a break up can make the other person begin to wonder if they had made the right choice.
So buck up baby, and do some things that make you at least appear confident, and you might be on your way to get back your ex. Again, do not go overboard, maintain the same level of confidence or perhaps slightly more than when you were with your ex.
If you are having a hard time keeping up the confidence, it usually means that you are having too much time on your hands to ponder the breakup and become depressed. Do not let this happen. Find or even create ways to occupy yourself so that this time bandit doesn't mess with your heart. Maybe tackle a project you have been putting off, or start a new hobby.
The thing you want the world to see is that, while you know and realize that the situation sucks, you are strong enough in character to handle emotional turmoil. When possible, make sure the world, especially your ex, sees that you are a strong individual and capable of surving on your own.
Re-engage yourself into the social scene. A word of caution, even though you friends mean well, do not continually hang out with friends who are thinking that they are doing you a favor by ex-bashing. If you do get back together with an ex, your friends are going to feel real uncomfortable. So either do not hang around these types or at least let them know that you do not really care to hear negative things about your ex. You want to keep the positive people around you. Not just routing for your relationship to come back, but just positive people in general.
Do not let yourself go. Just because you are in a funk over the breakup, maintain good grooming habits. Stay clean shaved and avoid looking disheveled. Stay as close to the well dressed person you have been in the past. The goal here is to have you ex see you in a positive light, so that they start to thinking, maybe I let one of the good ones go!?
